Christmas Appeal
The aim of this project is to help school girls in some of the poorest areas of rural Zimbabwe, to complete their education after the onset of menstruation. Without help, these girls, for whom sanitary pads are far too costly, resort to managing their periods by means which are unhygienic, unreliable and can lead to chronic infections. These things prevent their continuing with their schooling. Without completing their education their future potential for employment and making a contribution to their society is limited.
Your support in the past has enabled us to grow the work through the inclusion of more schools in the Gweru region of Zimbabwe. Since 2023, the number of schools on the programme has risen to 17, and in 2024 we increased the salaried work force from one full-time project manager to four – three as part-time workers – to accommodate this growth. We therefore now have the human resources we need to grow the work in Gweru, but are lacking the funds.
We now have four new schools joining the programme, but this requires investment to get the local community leaders’ buy-in and to train up volunteers to help with the training events for the girls. We can only accommodate these schools with your help which is why we need your support. Could you make a one-off donation or even set up a monthly donation to allow us to do this to allow us to do this?
